Plön is a small town in the Holsteinische Schweiz with the population of about 13.000 inhabitants that was named after the former Slavic settlement. In the year of 1236 it had got its city right. In its present form Plön has 1633 built houses some of which go back to the 10-th century. The highest castle in the whole Schleswig-Holstein presents a landmark of the town. Since 2001 it is opened for the guests again.
The aerial health resort of Plön is surrounded by 15 lakes. So the wonderful view of the town with its incomparable charm is well known not only in Schleswig-Holstein but also abroad. The nature reserve house is located in the castle area. The active vacation in the surroundings is tuned naturally with the scenery. Water sportsmen usually come here to master the skills.
Not only sailing, surfing, diving, fishing or ship journeys are offered here. There are many other possibilities for the recreation. Places for gulf and mini-golf, well-developed track net for jogging, walking and especially for nordic walking complete the offer.
The Germany’s biggest fitness park of nordic walking originated in 2006 and works together with the neighboring towns of Eutin and Malente.
