Culture at Hässleholm Kulturhus
The programme at Hässleholm Kulturhus ranges from music and theatre to activities for children and young people, lectures, literature and dance, as well as shows, entertainment and exhibitions. It caters to a variety of cultural interests, from stage performances and music to literature and art. Inspiring works of art are displayed in the 150-square-metre exhibition hall. The cultural centre therefore offers both a broad programme of events and a dedicated space for exhibitions.
The town library in the cultural centre also hosts, among other things, reading groups, author visits and lectures. Literary and discussion events complement the exhibitions and other events. The cultural centre is located next to Hässleholm central station; this location helps place it within the town. The library’s activities, exhibitions and the centre’s programme offer different cultural highlights in one place.
Art and history in the town centre
Public art and local history offer other ways to explore the centre. The sculpture guide presents public art in the town centre as a suggested walking route. You can pick it up at the cultural centre, the library or the town hall in Hässleholm. The Be Here Then app is designed for walks focusing on local history and also on public art. Both formats feature public art; the app also includes local history, while the sculpture guide brings together the art in the town centre as a dedicated walking route. Another historical landmark is Hässleholm Church: it was built in 1914 at the highest point of Första Avenyn, in the heart of the town centre.
Nature between lake, forest and wildlife
Nature can also be explored through a range of distinctive features. Hovdala Hiking Centre lies just south of Hässleholm, by Lake Finjasjön. The Hovdalaån valley is home to 18 of Sweden’s 19 bat species. This is a notable feature for nature lovers. At Hässleholmsgården, buildings and lawns are framed by beech forest. The lake, the bat species in the valley and the combination of open spaces and forest each offer their own highlights.
Practical information for the park
Hembygdsparken Hässleholm has free parking, including spaces for buses and for people with reduced mobility. Toilets are available in the park, at Kaffestugan and in Hembygdsmuseet. As practical facilities may change, check this information again before your trip.
Cycling and trails
Active days can take different forms, too. The Göingerundan starts in the centre of Hässleholm, is 25 kilometres long and quite hilly. If you choose cycling as the focus of your outing, you can take the starting point, route length and terrain into account. Near Hässleholm, the Magle våtmark wetland has gravel paths for walking, cycling and running. While the Göingerundan is described as a specific cycling route with a stated length and terrain, the focus at Magle våtmark is on three activities and the gravel surface of the paths.
