Olsfors: Vannasjön, hiking trails and places of interest
Accommodation in Olsfors
Olsfors offers a variety of reasons to take a trip: Vannasjön has a small bathing area, several marked trails lead through the surrounding area, and Vanna kvarn and an old feldspar mine add historical traces to the local landscape. If you are planning a trip with nature experiences, physical activity and individual cultural attractions, you can explore Olsfors according to your personal interests.
Vannasjön and the trails through the surrounding area
The bathing area at Vannasjön is set in natural surroundings with woodland, tall grass and reeds. Anyone wishing to spend time by the water will find a clearly defined destination for their stay there. A hiking trail of approximately 2 km leads around Vannasjön, making it an option in its own right when planning your day.
Another option is IK Omega’s green-and-white-marked 8 km trail. It passes Vanna kvarn and an old feldspar mine. This old feldspar mine can be found near Vanna kvarn; both places give the route an additional connection to the history and landscape of the surrounding area. The noteworthy Vanna kvarn is also located on the way to the bathing area at Vannasjön. This means you can consider a stay by the lake, a shorter loop and a longer marked trail separately, or classify each of the mentioned destinations according to your preferred focus.
Training trails and practical information
There are three training trails at IK Omega’s club facility in Olsfors: one 8 km trail, one 5 km trail and a 2.5 km illuminated trail. The trails run both on gravel surfaces and on smaller forest paths. This information can help you include different forms of physical activity in your plans without making blanket judgments about the trails. Parking is available at the starting point of the Omegastugan hiking trail. The Bråtes bro bus stop on Boråsvägen is just under 200 metres away. This means that for this specific starting point, both parking and a nearby bus stop are available as useful reference points.
The church and other places in Olsfors
Olsfors kyrka is also part of the history of the locality. It was inaugurated in 1916 and extensively renovated in 1973. For current classification, it is also important to note that Olsfors kyrka was taken out of use on 14 April 2024. Its construction and history of use can therefore be distinguished from the nature and trail experiences around Vannasjön.
Another specific place is Skogsparken, located on Örelidsvägen in Olsfors. Depending on whether you primarily want to get to know the lake, a marked trail, Vanna kvarn, the feldspar mine or the local architectural and landscape features during your stay, you can organise your days in different ways.
