Ertholmene: Hotels and Accommodations

Ertholmene is part of the Bornholm region and is one of its characteristic places for history, views, and walks. The area covers approximately 39 hectares and is situated in a rocky Baltic Sea setting with distinctive natural habitats.

Culture and History

Christiansø and Frederiksø form a well-preserved historic naval fortress made of granite, with defensive walls and gun towers. Many former military installations have been preserved; the buildings and walls are protected cultural heritage. In Lille Tårn on Frederiksø, the Christiansø Museum serves as a local archive and as a military history museum for Christiansø Fortress.

Islands and Paths

The two inhabited islands can be explored on foot in less than an hour; there are no cars on the islands. Ertholmene is frequently visited as a day trip from Bornholm.

Locally produced herring is associated with Christiansø and is made in a small former gunboat shed at the harbor.

Getting There

Ertholmene is accessible exclusively by boat; from Gudhjem on Bornholm, it can be reached by passenger ferry. A ferry service between Gudhjem and Christiansø has operated since 1959.
