Discover Haarby: Nature, Culture and Leisure

In the Haarby Wetland Area, a signposted 2.2 km hiking route leads through a variety of landscapes. It crosses a footbridge over the Haarby Å, passes through wet meadows, shrubs and living hedges, and continues along small streets in Haarby. On the private land along the hiking route, public pedestrian access is permitted on the prepared paths and field tracks. If you would like to combine nature and proximity to the town on a manageable route, this trail provides a clear basis for planning your day.

Nature trails between water and woodland

Two new shallow lakes were created in the Haarby Wetland Area after the Haarby Å regained a meandering course. Together with the wet meadows and hedges, they create a landscape that is particularly suitable for quiet walks and attentive observation along the signposted route.

Cyclists will also find varied terrain here: the signposted MTB route in Trunderupskoven near Haarby alternates between gravel, forest floor and grass. Trunderupskoven is hilly, so the different surfaces help determine the character of the route. For active days, Haarby can therefore be explored both on foot and by mountain bike.

Haarby between architecture and history

The Haarby Library was designed by the architect Arne Jacobsen. The Haarby Local Historical Archive offers a different perspective on the past: it is open on the first Monday of every month from 19:00 to 21:00. This fixed opening time gives you a specific point of reference if you would like to include local history in your plans.

Near Haarby lies Saruppladsen, also known as the “village of dead souls”. From 3400 to 2800 BC, it played an important role in funerary and burial culture. An information board at the parking area provides information about the site’s history and adds to the historical context on location.

Haarby Bio was built in 1922 by Hans Bøgner with 150 seats. At the cinema, you can experience the atmosphere of iconic opera houses and concert halls in Europe. Haarby Bio has a step-free side entrance for access. Architecture, building history and an unusual cinema experience come together here in a single place you can visit.

Leisure options for different day plans

The swimming pool at Haarby-Hallerne is open to the public. It has a children’s pool, a warm-water pool and a 25-metre pool. Families and swimming enthusiasts can therefore find different types of pools at the same facility, without having to limit their day to just one form of water activity.

Agger VIN: Japanese Park Golf is a golf game developed in Japan. The facility has four courses, each with nine holes. A nine-hole round takes about half an hour. The approximate duration makes the round a clearly defined leisure option within a day, while the four courses offer different ways to play.

Getting around by public transport

Haarby has good public bus connections to Assens, Odense and Faaborg.
