Bogense Between Sea Views, Søbad and Local History

Bogense combines sea views, aquatic experiences and historic townscapes. If you enjoy combining activity, the sea and culture on your trip, you will find various options here for planning your days.

Water Experiences and Paths by the Sea

At Bogense Søbad, you can enter the water via various stairways and a long bathing jetty. The bathing area has changing rooms, toilets and showers; during the winter season, a sauna is also available. The bathing area is complemented by a floating raft that swimmers can reach. This allows you to combine peaceful hours by the water with an active stay, without reducing the coastal town to just one type of travel interest.

You can also explore the Kløverstierne in Bogense on foot and by bicycle. Alongside spending time by the water, this adds another way to discover the town to the character of Bogense.

Museum, Harbour and Historic Townscapes

The Nordfyns Museum is located in Bogense’s former railway station building, where it presents stories and images of the former Nordfynske Jernbane. In the former station building, railway history is housed under one roof alongside archaeological and historical collections. The facilities include an archaeological collection, a collection of objects from the former hospital, historic interiors and clothing, as well as a large collection of paintings. The museum also has a complete hairdressing and barbershop salon modelled on the year 1920 and an old North Funen farmhouse parlour.

The old harbour facility, Bogense Gl. Havn, was established in 1828 and expanded in 1874 and 1894. Bogense Church, also known as Sankt Nikolaj Church, was built as a small village church in the 12th century and stands on a coastal cliff. The church hill offers an impressive view over the sea. The tower of Bogense Church formerly served as an important sea mark that was visible from far away.

Bogense Torv is surrounded by houses dating from the 18th century and protected lime trees from 1871. Every Thursday, the Torvemarked i Bogense takes place year-round in the old square in front of the church. For your travel planning, this creates a combination of coastal connections, local history and a recurring market event.

Which Interests Suit Bogense

If you prefer active days, the Kløverstierne, which can be used on foot and by bicycle, as well as Bogense Søbad, offer suitable themes for your plans. If you are more interested in history, the Nordfyns Museum, Bogense Gl. Havn, Bogense Church and Bogense Torv lead to different historical facets of the town. The view over the sea from the church hill and the opportunities at Søbad keep the coastal character present. This allows you to divide your time in Bogense between activity, water and culture.
