Forest Trails and Running Routes
The section of Gästrikeleden leading south from Hofors is an 8 to 10-kilometre forest hike there and back. The distance therefore refers to the round trip and provides a concrete measure for planning. Storflyslingan is 4.2 kilometres long and partly unlit. Two different details matter for planning: the round-trip distance for Gästrikeleden and the lighting on Storflyslingan. The Hofors exercise trails are located between Hoforshallen and Stålringen. By distance, Storflyslingan is shorter.
Cross-Country Skiing, Ice Skating and Disc Golf
The Edskenspåret cross-country ski trail starts at the lit running track by the Hoforshallen car park. Public ice skating takes place at the municipality’s ice rink. The two winter options therefore differ in activity and starting point: the starting point is specified for cross-country skiing, while public access to the rink is the focus for ice skating. Check the public skating times in advance.
Hofors Discgolfbana is an 18-hole course in varied terrain with a park and woodland character. It is located in the park area between Västerleden and Bönhusberget; nine holes are designated beginner holes. If you are considering disc golf, you can use this information to gauge the course size and the explicitly designated beginner holes. Unlike the forest hike, the focus here is on the number of holes and the terrain, not a round-trip distance.
History and Art
Hofors bruk was established in the late 17th century, providing a historical point of interest during your stay. At Hofors Herrgård, much of the original decorative detailing has been preserved.
