Villshärad: Sandy Beach, Dunes and Nature Reserve

Villshärad combines a distinctive sandy beach with coastal landscapes and natural areas whose history and facilities appeal to different travel interests. Villshärad Beach has fine dunes and a sandy seabed; the water is shallow to of normal depth. The Villshärad Nature Reserve also features species-rich coastal meadows. They are home to both a diverse birdlife and a rich flora.

Sandy Beach and Landscape History

The high stone walls are part of the character of the nature reserve, recalling former agricultural systems. The area was used for centuries as pasture and farmland. As a result, the focus here is not only on the beach and dunes, but also on visible traces of former land use. The coastal meadows and their bird and plant life form a distinct landscape aspect alongside the sandy shore.

Cycling Along the Beach

The Kattegattleden is a 390-kilometre coastal cycle route running from Helsingborg through Halland to Gothenburg. In Villshärad, it passes by the beach. Cyclists can turn off the Kattegattleden and follow the signs to the bathing beach; bicycle racks are located 500 metres away. This makes the site a specific section of a longer coastal route, without limiting Villshärad to a single mode of transport.

Haverdal: Nature Trail, Bridleway and Walking Loop

Haverdal and Villshärad share a three-kilometre sandy beach with high dunes. At this beach, visitors can combine a swim in the sea with hikes through various types of landscape in the Haverdal Nature Reserve. The nature reserve also has a special nature trail starting from Lynga. It is marked with ermine symbols, and 15 information boards along the route provide information about nature and the area.

Further routes are available in different lengths and with different starting points. Depending on the route chosen, the bridleway in the Haverdal Nature Reserve is 3.6 to 4.2 kilometres long. A 4.7-kilometre orange-marked loop starts at the Lynga car park, just west of Haverdal Golf Club, and leads south to Villshärad. The three routes differ in specific ways: the nature trail is marked with ermine symbols and supplemented by 15 information boards; the bridleway offers 3.6 to 4.2 kilometres depending on the variant, while the orange loop has a fixed length of 4.7 kilometres and leads south to Villshärad.

Further Orientation at the Beach

The Lynga sand dune (Stora Sandkullen) is located nearby. It rises 36 metres above sea level; a narrow, steep staircase leads to its summit. At Haverdal and Villshärad beaches, there is also an accessible toilet, an outdoor toilet, a volleyball net and a kiosk that is open in summer.
