Vallensbæk: Beach, Harbour and Art on Køge Bay

Vallensbæk Beach is a sandy beach and part of Strandparken on Køge Bay. For travel planning, this creates a clear coastal focus that can be combined with swimming, exercise, maritime impressions and art.

Beach, Swimming and Harbour

For the 2026 season, Vallensbæk Beach once again received the Blue Flag. The beach has accessible bathing jetties. The Valhal bathing facility invites visitors to swim in summer and winter; it has an outdoor pool, a cold shower and a toilet.

Vallensbæk Harbour is a marina with good opportunities for sailing. It is also home to a maritime playground with the sunken cutter “Noa”, a lighthouse with an observation platform and a 2-metre-high slide. This brings sailing and a playground with clearly recognisable maritime motifs together at the harbour.

Walking Paths and Cycling Routes

The surrounding area offers several different points of reference for walks, running and cycling. The Vallensbæk Clover Paths comprise four marked routes of different lengths and with different themes. Strandparkstien is 7.6 kilometres long. In Vallensbæk and the surrounding area, the Vestegnsruten passes close to Vallensbæk Beach and is suitable for walks, running and cycling. A circular route of approximately 2 kilometres around Ringebæk Lake begins at Havnevej. The approximately 2-kilometre circular route around Ringebæk Lake is therefore significantly shorter than the 7.6-kilometre Strandparkstien; both figures help when choosing the route length. The different route lengths make it easier to organise your plans according to your preferred distance and theme.

Art on the Coast and at the Station

Art is also present at specific locations. The artificial glacial erratic at Vallensbæk Havnevej is part of Camilla Berner’s artwork “Flyttet Istid”. The erratic marks the original coastline of Vallensbæk Beach. Its surface is covered with a self-luminous coating, allowing it to appear as a glowing monument in Strandparken during the hours of darkness. In front of Vallensbæk Station, the artwork “Multitudes” consists of four concrete blocks with amethysts cast into them. The two artworks also differ in their materiality: a glacial erratic stands at Havnevej, while four concrete blocks with cast-in amethysts stand in front of the station.

Vallensbæk Station is an S-train station on the Køge Bay railway line. PULS is located at the station, an exhibition venue for video art called “Under Broerne” that mainly presents contemporary art. PULS opened in April 2025 and occasionally also shows films about and from Vallensbæk’s club and activity life throughout the year.

Harbour and Haveje Strandparken

Vallensbæk Harbour was built by sailors who had previously anchored in Køge Bay. Haveje Strandparken is located by Vallensbæk Beach and is open during the summer season, offering burgers, homemade lemonade, ice cream and other items. While Haveje is open during the summer season, Valhal invites visitors to swim in summer and winter.
