Perjatsi
Perjatsi is shaped above all by a distinctive landscape edge and its connection to the sea. Kiideniiduoja Hiiemägi and Hiie kaldad are located on a natural coastal cliff in Perjatsi. From Kiideniiduoja Hiiemägi, there is a very good view of the sea. For understanding the character of the place, it is therefore not only its proximity to the sea that is decisive, but also the specific interplay of slope, watercourse, protected landscape and cultural sites. The transition from the open sea view to the streamside section west of the slope, which is largely untouched, gives the natural area different spatial characteristics.
Coastal cliff and protected landscape
The Perjatsi special protection zone is part of the area's natural character. Its protection objective is to preserve and restore biological diversity and the landscape. Immediately west of the coastal cliff, the section of the Kiideniidu Hiieoja is largely wild and untouched by human activity. At the coastal cliff, the view opens out towards the sea; to the west, the stream section retains its largely untouched character. The protection objective therefore encompasses both biological diversity and the visible landscape.Cultural heritage with a special connection to the place
Perjatsi Hiiemägi is a cultural heritage site associated with a former farm called Hiiemäe. The place may have been regarded as sacred by Estonians. This cautious historical classification adds a cultural dimension to the landscape significance of the coastal cliff. Perjatsi Hiiemägi combines cultural heritage with the former Hiiemäe farm and a merely presumed religious significance. The Kiideniidu Hiieoja and its names
The Kiideniidu Hiieoja has the two names Kiideniidu oja and Perjatsi oja. The stream flows through the village of Perjatsi from south to north towards the sea. Below Hiiekalda, it continues its course to the northeast, west of it, towards the sea. The stream is therefore one of the defining features of the place and connects the village with the coast through its local course.Sacrificial stone and local history
An independent cultural reference point is the sacrificial stone Kiideniidu ohvrikivi. It is located on the grounds of the Kiideniidu farm, which is now called Niidu. The stone has a circumference of 17 metres and is 2.5 metres high. In addition to the Perjatsi Hiiemägi cultural heritage site, an individual stone is thus also part of the historical heritage of the place. Another historical reference point is the Perjatsi community centre. It was completed in June 1910. In the case of the community centre, a specific construction date is therefore the focus, while the sacrificial stone is defined by its location and dimensions. Unlike the natural features, this detail refers to the built history of the place and complements the connection between landscape, cultural heritage and local history.
