Sandby Kulturhus in Harpelunde offers theater, music, exhibitions, and workshops. The history of Frederiksdal Estate can be traced back to 1305, while a Chinese tea house was built in Frederiksdal Park in 1914.

Culture and History in Sandby and Frederiksdal

Sandby Church has a Romanesque choir and a Romanesque nave, as well as a Late Gothic sacristy, a Late Gothic porch, and a Late Gothic tower. The pulpit also deserves attention: it was created by Hans Gudewerth and features reliefs depicting the expulsion from Paradise, Noah’s Ark, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, and the Ascension. Together with Sandby Kulturhus, this creates a cultural focal point encompassing both architectural history and theater, music, exhibitions, and workshops.

Cherry Wine and Parkland

Frederiksdal Estate produces cherry wine according to the same principles that have been used for winemaking for centuries. Part of the forest surrounding Frederiksdal Estate is designated as a public park with a picnic area. At Frederiksdal Kirsebærvin, visitors could tour the production facilities, taste the wines, and buy wine; Frederiksdal Kirsebærvin was also offered as a place to visit with or without a guided tour.

Hiking Trails of Different Lengths

There are three hiking trails at Frederiksdal Estate. They are 1.3 km, 2.1 km, and 4.3 km long. The blue trail at Frederiksdal Estate connects the estate’s park with the coastal landscape and passes closer to the cherry wine production facilities. The trails at Frederiksdal Estate were accessible year-round from 6 a.m. until sunset. Puzzle Tour and Sensory Trail

The GoMystery tour “Åndejægerne på Frederiksdal” could be experienced year-round. As a self-guided puzzle tour, it led through the park, the cherry orchards, and the Frederiksdal winery; along the way, participants solved puzzles and completed tasks. The tour covered approximately 3 km, 2.5 to 3 hours had to be set aside for the activity, and it was intended for groups of 2 to 5 people. Another form of sensory experience is offered by the “Sansestien” sensory trail in Frederiksdal’s cypress forest: it invites visitors to hear, feel, see, smell, and taste nature.

Cycling Route and Harbor on Lolland’s West Coast

National Cycle Route 8, Østersøruten, begins in Naturlandet at the Tårs ferry harbor on western Lolland; the section of the route on Lolland-Falster is 168 km long. Tårs Havn is a small fishing and yacht harbor on the west coast of Lolland, north of Nakskov Fjord.
