Kramnitse between Beach, Harbour and Cycle Routes

Kramnitse combines beach, harbour, dyke and signposted cycle routes with species-rich flora. If, for your trip, you are weighing up time for swimming, observing nature, water activities and cycling tours, these interests can be pursued at different points around the area.

Beach, Harbour and Dyke

At the western end of Kramnitze Strand, near Kramnitze Havn, a ramp leads down to the sand. It provides access for wheelchair users and prams. Kramnitze Havn is a natural stopping point for many people travelling along the dyke. A dyke monument has already been erected east of Kramnitze Havn. Kramnitse Gab was located at the former entrance to Rødby Fjord. Different coastal features therefore meet here: the sandy beach, the harbour, the dyke and the former fjord entrance.

Cycling with Several Route Options

Kramnitse offers several signposted connections for active days. The Østersøruten N8 is 820 kilometres long and can be cycled in 14 stages. National Cycle Route 8 passes directly by Kramnitze. On the Østersøruten cycle path, you can cycle along the dyke to Rødbyhavn or eastwards to the centre of Nakskov.

The Naturlandet Rundt adventure cycle route also passes directly by Kramnitze. It connects with all 19 local, signposted adventure circular routes in Naturlandet Lolland-Falster, which are between 18 and 49 kilometres long. The cycle route Det flade Lolland starts and ends in Kramnitze, but is signposted in only one direction. Along the way, it meets National Cycle Route 8 (Østersøruten), Munkevejen (89) and Naturlandet Rundt (N). If you want to combine different tour lengths and routes, this provides several specific connections for planning your day.

Water, Harbour and Nature

At Kramnitze Strand, east of the harbour breakwater, there is a suitable area for surfing. At the same beach, you can fish from the shore, the bridge or the breakwater. Kramnitze Havn is a small fishing harbour and the only refuge harbour between Rødby Havn and Albuen. A concrete ramp with a landing bridge is used for launching boats. Kramnitse has been documented as a harbour since 1736.

The area around Kramnitze Strand has species-rich flora. It includes field cow-wheat, wild celery, strand-skjaller, trauben-gänsefuß, hirschwurz and soløje-alant; it is presumably home to Denmark’s largest population of field cow-wheat. The Kramnitze Havn shelter site is protected by hedges of rugosa roses and lies only a few metres from the bathing beach. It includes a spacious shelter and a campsite for up to 15 people. The beach, harbour, cycle routes and plant life therefore offer different reasons to explore Kramnitse at your own pace.
