Torrig between Coastal Forest, Beach and History

Near Torrig lies Kragenæs Nordstrand, a small sandy beach, while Torrig Skov is known for its extensive coastal woodland. The passage tombs, the castle mound and the Reventlow Museum add a range of very different historical impressions.

Coast, Forest and Panoramic Views

At Kragenæs Nordstrand, there is sand both on the beach and in the water; the beach itself is small. Torrig Skov stretches for around 2 kilometres along the coast in the north of Birket Parish. The forest covers 231 hectares and includes the Keldemose and Donsemose marshlands as well as the Koeng and Vigeng meadows. For a panoramic view across the landscape, Birket Bavnehøj is an excellent choice: at 30 metres above sea level, it is Lolland’s highest point. Ravnsby Bakker is also characterised by deep valleys, beautiful hills and an impressive view over Smålandsfarvandet. The landscape experience therefore extends from the sandy shore through woodland and open natural areas to elevated terrain offering expansive views.

Historic Sites with Their Own Character

At the Glentehøj passage tomb, visitors can crawl through the 5,200-year-old burial chamber. Kong Svends Høj passage tomb is 12.5 metres long and can be entered. At Ravnsborg Voldsted, you can see an 18-metre-high castle mound located in Ravnsby Bakker. The Reventlow Museum Pederstrup provides insights into Reventlow’s political activities. Contemporary portraits and furniture also offer insights into Reventlow’s private life and that of his family.

Exploring on Foot

Dodekalitten can be reached on foot via the Hjertestien trail, through woodland and open fields. The summit of Birket Bavnehøj is publicly accessible via stairs through a small park. If you enjoy active pursuits, you can therefore choose between a route through different landscape areas and a clearly marked stairway access. Both destinations combine exercise with a specific landscape or cultural experience, so you do not have to limit yourself to days at the beach.

Plan Your Trip Around Your Own Interests

When choosing your hotel, you can weigh up the focus of your days: coastal woodland and marshland areas lend themselves to a landscape-oriented itinerary, Kragenæs Nordstrand to time by the water, while the passage tombs, Ravnsborg Voldsted and the Reventlow Museum offer different ways to explore history. If you would like to visit the Reventlow Museum Pederstrup by public transport, please bear in mind that it is difficult to reach. Those who want to combine several interests can weigh up views, nature, walking trails and cultural attractions, and base their hotel choice on how they would like to spend their days.
