Bathing Area and Harbour by the Water

Timmernabben combines a bathing area with maritime local history. In Gamla stugbyn, there is a bathing area with access to the water via a bathing jetty and a small sandy beach. This puts a clearly recognisable coastal setting at the centre of your stay: you can combine the beach area with a visit to the harbour and the town’s historic traces.

The boat harbour of Timmernabbens båtsällskap is located next to the old ferry landing. This location makes the harbour an important reference point if you would like to get to know Timmernabben from its maritime side. Maritime History in the Korsvirkeshuset

In the Korsvirkeshuset, the Sjöhistoriska rummet shows how seafarers and their families lived around the turn of the 20th century. The exhibition room therefore focuses not only on ships and harbour facilities, but also on the everyday lives of people whose lives were connected with seafaring. For visitors who want to understand Timmernabben’s historic character as well as its coast, this is a distinct thematic focus.

Nabbens Rökeri & Fisk also represents a traditional connection between the town and maritime work. Since the early 1950s, fish has been smoked there in the same place using the same old techniques and traditional methods. The historical dimension here lies in the continuity of the operation and in the working practices that have been explicitly preserved.

Ceramic Tradition and Townscape

Another defining part of Timmernabben’s history is ceramics. Tillinge Fayence & Terracotta Fabrique began producing earthenware in Timmernabben in 1859. The surroundings at Gabriel Keramik are considered culturally and historically valuable due to an uninterrupted ceramic tradition dating back to the 1850s, and are regarded as one of the most interesting industrial-historical environments in Mönsterås Municipality.

The current focus of this site is clearly documented: since 2021, Gabriel Keramik has produced only tiled stoves. The site also contains a windmill that is considered a significant building in the townscape. Together with the historic signs whose installation began at important locations in Timmernabben, this provides access to the town’s history through specific buildings, production history and remembered places.

Summer Stays and Historical Events

For a summer break, Strandfiket at Danska Varvet beach offers homemade pastries. The reference explicitly concerns the summer and complements the existing bathing and harbour experiences with a culinary detail.

As a specific historical event reference, Nabbedagen & Strandbanken was announced for 19 July 2025 as a family festival with historical elements in the harbour area of Timmernabben. This date is in the past; it therefore does not describe a current event date, but a documented occasion that connected the harbour area and local history.
