Vaiteliai is assigned to the Dauparai-Kvietiniai eldership in Klaipėda District. The Minija is the defining feature: it is considered the largest river in Western Samogitia and, in the wider Samogitian region, one of the fastest, most winding and most interesting water tourism routes. Waterways on the Minija

The Minija route is considered a gateway to Samogitian nature and natural monuments. It includes the I. Simonaitytė Memorial Museum and the King Wilhelm’s Canal. Visitors can choose their preferred section of the Minija water route themselves.

Kayaking and routes

Vaiteliai has a kayak rental base operated by “Prie Gamtos”. The operator offers single- and double-seater kayaks, provides life jackets for children and advises on planning a kayak route. Kayaking with the operator based in Vaiteliai is suitable for young people and families with children.

The Kartena–Raguviškiai kayak route is considered easy; it is 14 kilometres long and takes 3 to 5 hours. The Aleksandravas–Dauginčiai kayak route is considered difficult, is 12 kilometres long and takes 3.5 to 5 hours.

Culture and architecture nearby

In the immediate vicinity of Vaiteliai, the Lankupiai Suspension Bridge spans the Minija; it is 130 metres long. Lankupiai Lock is also nearby; it is the only lock in Lithuania designated as a technical monument.

Practical information by the water

The operator can transport visitors’ belongings to selected recreation or accommodation locations. Cars and luggage can be left at the operator’s farmstead near the campsite.
