Kintai: Hotels and Accommodation

Kintai is located on the Curonian Lagoon and is surrounded by the 600-hectare Kintai Forest.

Culture and History

The Kintai Vydūnas Cultural Centre is located in a former parish school built in 1705. Vydūnas taught at the former Kintai parish school from 1888 to 1892. The Vydūnas Museum opened in the restored school building in 1994; Vydūnas’ harp is on display there.

In 1844, Vilhelmas Berbomas introduced the marking of fishing boats on the Curonian Lagoon using weather vanes. The Kintai Summer Festival held concerts at Kintai Lutheran Church.

Nature and Water

The Mėlynasis Karpis complex offers birdwatching in a pond area of approximately 600 hectares. Kintai Beach has warm, shallow water and a pier accessible to boats and small watercraft. Kitesurfing is available at the Kintai Kitesurfing Centre.

Local Features

Kintai is associated with distinctive recipes for smoked fish. Lithuania’s largest thuja is also associated with Kintai; it is approximately 18 metres tall and has a crown approximately 12 metres wide.
