Skuodas: Hotels and Accommodation

The Masonry Cross in Skuodas' central square commemorates the city's first Catholic missions and is considered Lithuania's oldest monument. It was erected in 1567 by J. Chodkevičius.

Culture and History

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Skuodas is considered an architectural monument. The Holy Trinity Church in Skuodas has three original bells.

The Skuodas Museum has five exhibition halls, presents temporary exhibitions from its collections and organises cultural events. It is housed in rooms on the grounds of the former Skuodas Manor; the building is associated with significant historical events in the city. The exhibitions include one on the history of the founding of the city of Skuodas and another on traditional rural crafts and women's work. The collections comprise ethnographic, historical, folk art and archaeological holdings.

Skuodas also offers an educational motoball excursion covering training, the history and rules of the sport, and the motorcycles used by the players. The Skuodas motoball programme invites participants to try riding a motorcycle, dribble the ball and play a short match.

Nature

Skuodas City Park has a fountain and a sports ground for young people. The Health Trail there is decorated with wooden sculptures created by folk artists from the district; paths in Skuodas City Park lead to a barefoot trail.

The Skuodas section of the E11 Forest Trail crosses Skuodas Park and forms part of a long-distance hiking trail in the Baltic states.

Near Skuodas lies Apuolė, a landscape and historical reserve 8 kilometres southeast of the city. The Apuolė Hill is also nearby; it is 10 metres high and is considered an archaeological monument as well as a historical landscape reserve. The “Supernatural Landscapes” route around the Skuodas and Kretinga districts can be travelled on foot, by bicycle or by car.
