Geographical Setting
The Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Birutė Hill, and Naglis Hill are located in the vicinity of Vilimiškė. Lapkalnis and Olandų Kepurė are located in the surrounding area. The historic Memel Lutheran Church is located farther away in the wider region around Vilimiškė.
History
Vilimiškė emerged in the second half of the 16th century following the Valakų Reform. In 1639, the king allowed the Palanga estate to be relocated to fields that were identified as Vilimiškė in later written sources. In the 18th century, the Vilimiškė folwark was established as an administrative and agricultural center for the lands of the Palanga estate. In the second half of the 19th century, Juozapas Tiškevičius built a brickworks at the Vilimiškė folwark.
The old Vydmantai–Vilimiškė road runs through Vilimiškė. A narrow-gauge railway was built from the Vilimiškė brickworks to the Palanga pier. Bricks were transported from Vilimiškė to a port in Palanga and then shipped by steamer to Liepāja for sale.
The former village of Valteriškė, now Vilimiškė, housed a temporary ghetto during the Holocaust.

In Palanga, the “Labrytys” wellness trail is about six kilometers long and includes five active recreation zones with equipment for outdoor exercise. The “Discover the Legends of Palanga” route introduces visitors to the legends of Palanga and includes eight sites.
The “Following the Traces of Jewish Heritage in Palanga” route introduces visitors to Jewish history and culture. “Discover the Old Villas of Palanga” includes 27 historic resort villas and other significant examples of resort architecture.
