Jördenstorf: Hotels and Accommodations

The village church of Jördenstorf is an early church building whose construction probably began in the 13th century and which is considered an important example of the transitional period from Romanesque to Gothic architecture.

Culture and History

The brick nave is decorated with a round-arch frieze. A recessed, vaulted chancel made of fieldstone adjoins it. The square west tower was probably built as a defensive tower at an early stage.

Historical details can also be found inside and in the immediate surroundings: The nave has a medieval hall roof with unusually closely spaced wooden trusses and slanted posts. The furnishings include an organ by FRIESE (III) dating from 1878. At the eastern entrance to the churchyard stands a memorial to those who fell in the First World War.

The Thünen Museum, Dornbusch, and Burgwallinsel are located in the area around Jördenstorf. In the wider regional surroundings are Burg Schlitz and Lieper Burg.

Peenehof Köppen, at Klein Wüstenfelde 9a, 17168 Jördenstorf, lies on the edge of the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow Nature Park. The farm includes a fish-farming facility supplied by springs whose water is collected in a large pond.

The 36.9-kilometre, easy cycling circuit “In the Footsteps of the Windmills” passes through Jördenstorf.
