Teterow offers you a choice between a historic town experience, the lake and nature. The well-preserved medieval town center, Lake Teterow and the Bergring grass racing track give the town three distinct facets. When planning your trip, you can therefore focus on culture, landscape or special destinations for shared discoveries.

If you do not want to limit your stay to just one type of experience, Teterow offers several clear points of connection. Historic buildings, destinations by the water and paths through nature can each be weighted according to your own daily rhythm. The specific places help you combine your interests without presupposing any additional features of the destination.

Lake and Protected Landscape

Northeast of the town lies Lake Teterow in the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow Nature Park. The western shore belongs to the Binsenbrink nature reserve.

The NaturBad Teterow is located on the shore of Lake Teterow. It has a sandy beach, a sunbathing lawn and a beach volleyball court. This specific combination describes a place where you can combine different types of lakeside activities without presupposing any additional facilities.

History in the Townscape

History is visible in the town center and in individual buildings. The Pike Fountain in Teterow was inaugurated in 1914 and takes its theme from the pike legend. Construction of the Evangelical Lutheran town church in Teterow began in 1215; because of its two different architectural styles, it was not inaugurated until more than 200 years later. This gives you two different chronological perspectives on the town’s history.

Bergring and Museum

The Bergring track in Teterow is 1,877 meters long and has gradients of up to 16 percent. When planning activities around the Bergring, these two track characteristics can be taken into account as specific reference points. The Bergring Museum Teterow provides exhibition information about the history of the Bergring, regional railway history and the town’s school history. This extends the perspective from the course of the track to regional and urban contexts of remembrance.

Forest Adventure Trail and Castle Wall Island

The forest adventure trail in the Teterow Heidberge forest experience area is ideal for walks through nature. It is divided into two sections: the main trail, “Forest of Talents,” is 1.6 kilometers long and includes nine stations. The Philosophers’ Trail is just under 1 kilometer long and includes five additional stations. The different lengths and numbers of stations give you a clear basis for planning your day around either of the two sections.

Visitors can reach Castle Wall Island in Lake Teterow by ferry or by the “Regulus” launch. Groups can register year-round with the Teterow Town Museum for guided museum tours, events and projects. These offerings can also be conducted individually.
