Groß Miltzow: Hotels and Accommodations

The Groß Miltzow estate complex is located directly on a lake; its farm buildings and park shape the village. The park includes the lake “Vorderer See.” The grounds follow a landscape park design influenced by Lenné, in which a bridge creates a visual axis toward the house.

Culture and History

In the municipality of Groß Miltzow, Kreckow is home to a carefully constructed rectangular fieldstone church dating from the late 13th century. Its tower, built in 1749, has an octagonal upper section and a Baroque cupola. Inside are an 18th-century pulpit altar and an 1815 epitaph with coats of arms and panels; memorial monuments also stand in the churchyard. The church in Golm is a rectangular fieldstone ashlar building erected around 1350. It has a granite west portal and a half-timbered tower added after the Thirty Years’ War.

In Golm, the old manor house in the estate park is also one of the sights, alongside the church. The manor house in Kreckow was built in 1744 and renovated in 1995. The Groß Miltzow manor house was built around 1760 for the von Dewitz family. It is a three-bay building with a three-story central avant-corps and is privately owned. The two-story Baroque building bears an alliance coat of arms of the von Dewitz and von Maltzahn families and was remodeled in the Neo-Renaissance style in the mid-19th century. The grounds also include the so-called Luisenhaus, where Queen Luise is said to have spent the night according to tradition, as well as an 18th-century riding hall.

The estate grounds cover more than four hectares, are completely enclosed, and are not open to the public. The local townscape also includes a 15th-century brick church, visible from a distance as a landmark, as well as a towerless fieldstone church that shapes the local townscape.

Landscape

A central green area shaped by the Mühlbach contributes to the village landscape. The southern part of the area between Groß Miltzow and Kreckow lies within the IBA bird area Serrahn and Woldegk-Feldberg hilly region. The hills Jägerberg and Großer Hellberg are located nearby. The surrounding area contains the Blankenburg ruins, the “Cölpin, Dorfkirche” church, and the “Wittenborner Quelle” and “Braune-Weiße Quelle” springs. In the wider regional surroundings are the old Schlossberg site and a church ruin.

Geographical Location

The L 281 runs through Groß Miltzow from north to south and connects with the federal roads B 104, B 198, and B 192.
