Hohen Wangelin: Hotels and accommodations

Hohen Wangelin combines a hilly, heavily wooded landscape rich in lakes with its location in the Mecklenburg Lake District. The lakes include Malkwitzer, Kraazer, Hof and Orth lakes, among others.

Geographical location

Hohen Wangelin is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District between Waren (Müritz), Krakow am See, Teterow and Malchow.

Nature

Near Malkwitz, the Nebel River flows through the chain of lakes. The source of the Westpeene is located in the northeastern part of Hohen Wangelin; its source lake is Lake Kleiner Liepener See.

The southern part of Hohen Wangelin lies in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. In the wider regional area, the Mecklenburg Lake District is characterized by more than 1,000 lakes and connecting rivers; this nature park is also one of the protected natural areas.

Surroundings

Burg Schlitz, Liepse, Borgwall, Küche and Steinwerder are located in the area surrounding Hohen Wangelin.

The wider regional area also includes the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Wildlife Park, Güstrow Palace and the Thünen Museum.
