Lübow: Hotels and Accommodation

The village church of Lübow is a late Romanesque brick building constructed around 1220.

History

The first documentation of Lübow dates from 1192; at that time, the place was recorded under the name “de Lubowe”. Lübow is considered to be of Slavic origin. The village church is considered the second-oldest church in Mecklenburg and a model for Schwerin Cathedral.

Culture and Local Life

The church is characterised by richly profiled round-arched portals. Parts of the medieval wall paintings have been uncovered in the choir. The northern sacristy is used as a winter church, and the church also contains a Winzer organ from 1850.

The local dining options include the “Zur Kegelbahn” restaurant, with an adjoining hall and a modern bowling alley for cultural and sporting activities. Lübow also offers guesthouse rooms for overnight visitors. Artists who live and work in Lübow invite visitors to view their exhibitions.

Getting Around

An extensive network of cycle paths starting from Lübow makes it possible to take a detour to Wismar or a trip to Lake Schwerin.
