Glasin: Hotels and Accommodations

Glasin is situated in a terminal moraine landscape with hills rising to over 90 to 100 meters in the south, the lowlands of the Groß Tessin Basin in the east, and a sandy outwash plain in the west. The landscape is characterized by a constant alternation between valleys and hills; the highest elevation is Fuchsberg at 104 meters above sea level.

Nature

In the Glasin area, the Tüzener Moor and the Großes Torfmoor east of Poischendorf have been designated as valuable habitats for plants and animals. Orchid species occur in the Züsower Forest, including the broad-leaved helleborine and the lesser butterfly-orchid. The protected biotopes in Babst include peat bogs, shrubland and swamp forests, small bodies of water, and wet meadows.

Cycle Paths and Destinations

The varied landscape around Glasin and Babst is suitable for excursions on foot. The surrounding area can also be explored by bicycle on regional cycle tour 5, “Between Neukloster and Züsower Forest”: The 40-kilometer route leads through Glasin and Babst and passes through a large forest area.

In the Glasin area, the bathing area at Groß Tessiner See is considered a recreational facility. The Züsower Forest is regarded as a special attraction in the area around Glasin and Babst, as is the Klaasbach Valley in Neukloster municipal forest.

Culture

The village church of Groß Tessin is a seven-bay brick building that probably dates from the first half of the 14th century. Its west tower was designed as a fortified tower, and an inscription on the roof bears the date 1741. Inside, the church is characterized by a Baroque pulpit altar from 1750.
