Selmsdorf: Hotels and Accommodations

The Palinger Heath has been a protected inland dune landscape since 1992 and is part of the Green Belt. Numerous hiking trails offer views of the Green Belt; these also include sections of the historic patrol road. The Selmsdorfer Forstweg public transport stop can serve as a starting point for hikes along the Trave riverbank near Selmsdorf.

Landscape and Trails

Teschow is a historic, triangular-shaped village on a peninsula between the Trave, the Pötenitzer Wiek and Lake Dassow. From a viewpoint on the Teschow Peninsula, there are views of the ferry port of Travemünde, the Trave and Lake Dassow. Developed walking and cycling paths connect the Trave riverbank, Lake Dassow and Teschow.

The Lübeck–Grevesmühlen cycling tour follows a cycle path along the outskirts of Selmsdorf. Near Selmsdorf, it offers views of the Pötenitzer Wiek and Lake Dassow.

History

The historic transit route from the Selmsdorf–Schlutup border crossing ran along the former F104 and F105 in the direction of the ferry connections to Gedser and Trelleborg. The regional project “Grenzenlos von Lübeck nach Boltenhagen” uses memorial steles and information panels to commemorate the division of the region and its earlier history. In the regional network of memorial steles, five historic sites are listed for the Selmsdorf area: At the Lübeck-Schlutup border, Alte Grenzstraße, Former Barracks, Teschow and Zarnewenz.

Culture

The organ of St. Mary’s Church is a work by the Szczecin organ builder Barnim Grüneberg from 1869. The church also preserves a wooden epitaph from 1658. Hogen Steen is associated with megalithic tombs.
