On the Baltic Sea, Barendorf has a natural sandy beach next to the protected coastal landscape between Priwall and Barendorf. The Baltic Sea Cycle Route also runs through the village; Barendorf is therefore located on a long-distance cycling route along the coast.

History
The Barendorf estate includes a brick manor house, large farm buildings, stables, and barns; the complex is considered to be almost completely preserved. The local history also includes the preserved former customs house and the Seeblick brick villa. During the former GDR border regime, the villa once housed a surveillance facility operated by the Ministry for State Security and an observation tower.
