Neuburg: Hotels and Accommodation

The church in Neuburg is a brick basilica dating from the first half of the 13th century. Its tower was completed in 1361. It is one of the oldest village churches in Mecklenburg and is considered one of the town’s landmarks. The former side aisles remain visible through closed arcades. Inside, there is a Baroque altar from 1703 as well as wall paintings from various periods, including depictions from around 1400 and Low German inscriptions from 1584.

Landscape

The landscape around Neuburg includes wooded hills, fertile fields and meadows. Some tree-lined rural paths near Neuburg can be used on foot to reach nearby destinations.

Culture

The Wallberg, a landmark of Neuburg, includes an open-air stage. A successor castle at Wallberg is mentioned for the year 1171. The access stairs to the Thingplatz are located next to the NSV sports clubhouse at Wallberg.

Dance events are regularly held at the forest open-air stage at Neuburg’s Thingplatz. Every year, members of the association at Neuburg’s Thingplatz invite visitors to traditional Easter and autumn bonfires. Invited jesters and ballad singers take part in the castle festival; since 1998, it has been considered the main attraction of the Thingplatz.
