Niendorf: Hotels and accommodations

Niendorf has a rural character. Its location in the northwest of a moraine landscape along the Maurine River and its lowlands is a defining feature.

Landscape

The islands of Buchhorst and Fischwerder, for example, are located in the vicinity of Niendorf. In the wider regional area, you will find approximately Strand Rosenhagen Beach and Hundestrand 1, the Vogelpark Cultural-Historical Monument Zoo, as well as the old site of the Cultural-Historical Monument Franzosenschanze.

History and culture

Part of a historic circular village settlement has been preserved in Niendorf. In the past, the village was the seat of the municipal council and the center of the surrounding villages.

Historically, Siemz-Niendorf is connected with the Land of Boitin, a former province of the Bishopric of Ratzeburg, and is located in the wider Maurine-Radegast tourism region.

The former Schulzenhaus, or village headman's house, of Bechelsdorf and its barn, built in 1518, were located in the municipality of Siemz-Niendorf. Both were relocated to Schönberg and reconstructed there as a historic farm complex.

The Ansverus Cross monument is located approximately in the vicinity of Niendorf. In the wider regional area, you will find approximately the old site of the Spitzbubenberg Cultural-Historical Monument.

You can reach Niendorf via the state road connecting Schönberg and Ratzeburg.
