Ventschow: Hotels and Accommodation

The landscape around Ventschow was significantly shaped by the Vistula glaciation. The resulting terrain includes numerous lakes and areas of mixed forest. Parts of the local landscape are designated as nature reserves. Orchids and ferns grow in the surrounding area; while walking, hikers can spot white-tailed eagles and red kites.

The surrounding area also features geological particularities: geological outcrops provide fossils such as sea urchins and Sternberg cakes.

Hiking and Bodies of Water

Numerous hiking trails are available for hikes and walks. Near the edge of the village, a signposted hiking trail continues. Hikes in the surrounding area may include collecting mushrooms and berries. Fishing is possible at some local bodies of water with a valid fishing license.

On the Cycling Route

The Schweriner See circular cycling route runs from Hohen Viecheln toward Ventschow. It passes through the Döpe Nature Reserve and the rampart of the former Slavic fortress of Dobin. Alternatively, travelers can take a regional train to Ventschow and then a bus to Hohen Viecheln.

Rail Connections

Trains can be used in Ventschow on the Bad Kleinen–Rostock railway line. Trains can be taken from the two platforms at two-hour intervals; however, not all trains stop there.
