Warnow: Hotels and Accommodations

Lake Santow is located in Warnow and within the municipality of Warnow; its shores are protected as a nature reserve. At the same time, the lake is a shallow, sheltered body of water with significant habitats for plants and animals.

Nature

The municipality of Warnow lies within the Northwest Mecklenburg Hills Landscape Conservation Area. A wide network of hedgerows around the fields characterizes the landscape. At Lake Santow, reed meadows and wet meadows provide habitats for many species. In autumn, the lake serves as a roosting site for many thousands of geese of various species.

Culture

Bössow is regarded as a farming village with several well-preserved old farmhouses and a small village church. Bössow Village Church was built in the first half of the 14th century as a late medieval brick church with a low, square west tower.

The east window contains stained glass dating from the late 14th century. It depicts the Adoration of the Magi as well as several apostles and saints. The pulpit dates from 1674, while the altarpiece is neo-Gothic.

Großenhof Castle is regarded as an old, listed half-timbered building with several holiday bungalows. Großenhof and Gantenbeck are considered destinations for gentle tourism because of their proximity to the Baltic Sea and the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Cycling Routes

The municipality recommends a cycling tour from Grevesmühlen via Warnow and Bössow to the Baltic Sea at Wohlenberger Wiek. The municipality’s rural road network is described as suitable for cycling tours.

The “Castles and Manor Houses” route passes through Bössow, Thorstorf and Warnow and connects with the Baltic Sea Cycle Route. It runs through the Mecklenburg landscape with gently rolling fields and meadows.
