Blesewitz: Hotels and Accommodations

History

Blesewitz is a municipality near Anklam in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. Blesewitz Church is a plastered fieldstone building from the 15th century; its older, recessed rectangular choir dates from the 14th century. The half-timbered western tower probably dates from the 18th century. The pulpit has a balustrade in Renaissance forms and dates from 1613. Three granite grave steles from the 19th century stand in front of the east wall.

Until it was sold in 1792, Blesewitz was a fief estate of the von Lüskow family, who had been resident there since the 14th century. In 1824, the Kolbe family acquired the Blesewitz estate and operated the 865-hectare farm until the end of the Second World War. After 1945, Blesewitz Manor served as living quarters, a restaurant, and a cultural center. The manor house has stood vacant for many years; some of the estate’s farm buildings have been preserved and are partly still in use.

Landscape

The Anklam-Land administrative district is characterized by lakes, forests, meadows, and historic sites. The Stolpe paddlers’ rest area on the Peene has a landing stage and a ferry and is considered one way to experience nature along the Peene.

Cycling Route

A cycling stage from Friedland to Anklam runs nearby, passing through Blesewitz and Butzow. Along the Friedland–Anklam cycling route, the landscape is considered agricultural in character and dominated by vast fields.

Location

Blesewitz lies north of federal highway B 197 and south of federal highway B 199. Anklam is approximately seven kilometers northeast of Blesewitz; the A20 can be reached via the Anklam interchange, which is approximately 20 kilometers from Blesewitz.
