Viereck: Hotels and Accommodation

The nearby Ueckermünde Heath is considered suitable for hiking. Viereck is a municipality in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald. The village is also characterized by a settlement form known as a planned village green: the houses are arranged around a central open space.

History and Village Layout

Viereck was founded by immigrants from the Palatinate and was the third village in Western Pomerania founded by Catholic settlers from the Palatinate. In 1751, the village received its current name in honor of the Prussian minister Adam Otto von Viereck; it was previously called Jägersberg.

The central open space is otherwise undeveloped and is occupied by the village cemetery. Viereck's population density is described as 18.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The elevation is approximately 15 meters above sea level.

Church and Architectural Heritage

The Catholic church is considered a must-see attraction in Viereck. Viereck's church is regarded as a Brick Gothic church in the Neo-Gothic style. Before the present building, the village was served by a simple half-timbered church. The Church of the Nativity of Mary contains a processional cross from the 18th century. The Gründerzeit-era houses are also considered attractions in Viereck.

Landscape and Places Along the Rivers

Stallberg is situated on the Uecker. Uhlenkrug lies in the forest; an old cemetery there is considered worth seeing. Gutshof Marienthal is regarded as a pleasant spot on the Randow.
