The district of Stahlbrode in Sundhagen is located on the Western Pomeranian Bodden Coast, on the western shore of the Greifswald Bodden lagoon. Forests, meadows and extensive reed beds characterize the landscape.

Nature

The coastal area of Stahlbrode is considered suitable for walks, cycling tours and excursions on the water, as well as for swimming in the shallow Bodden waters; this also applies to families with children.

Water

Sundhagen’s coastal area includes the Bodden Coast landscape conservation area on the Strelasund, habitats close to the shore with abundant birdlife, a water tourism rest area in Niederhof and the harbor of Stahlbrode.

At the harbor of Stahlbrode, you can watch freshly caught fish being landed and processed. Fresh and smoked fish are also offered for sale there.

The surrounding area of Sundhagen includes Burgwall, Grimmen Zoo, Kleiner Werder, Großer Werder and Riffbrink.

The wider regional surroundings of Sundhagen include Stralsund Zoo, Schlossberg and Mönchstein.

Connections

The ferry connection between Reinberg and Rügen makes day trips by car or bicycle possible. From April to November, departures are scheduled every 20 minutes.
