At the Saaler Bodden, Langendamm is a place for days shaped by water, open landscapes, and paths. A bathing area, a small sailing harbor, and traces of history offer different ways to experience the area: you can combine swimming, exploring the landscape, history, and active excursions.

The bathing area in Langendamm can be reached via a narrow mown path. There is a bench and a view across the Bodden. A small sailing harbor is located directly beside the bathing area. Because the water depth increases gradually, swimming there is considered suitable for children. Anyone who wants to do more than swim while spending time by the water and would also like to watch boats will find two closely adjacent perspectives on the water at this section of the Saaler Bodden.

Geographically, the bathing area lies in the southern part of the Saaler Bodden and north of the Damgarten district. The Saaler Bodden forms the southwestern part of the Darß-Zingst Bodden chain and lies east of the Fischland peninsula. This opens up views across a landscape that connects the Bodden coast with an orientation toward Fischland, without implying a separate municipal boundary or a continuous path.

The water of the Saaler Bodden has a low salt content of 1–3 parts per thousand and is approximately 2 meters deep on average. The Bodden is mainly used by sport and leisure boats and for recreational fishing. This combination of shallow Bodden water, a sailing harbor, and leisure activities makes the waterside area particularly interesting for visitors who want to combine maritime impressions with a peaceful experience of the landscape.

Between Reeds and a Boundary Stone

The Moischenstein is a boundary stone first mentioned in writing in 1271, marking the border between Mecklenburg and Pomerania. A narrow path through reeds taller than a person leads to the partially submerged Moischenstein and a small viewing platform. The path combines a direct view of the historic object with the distinctive vegetation along the Bodden. This creates a brief, vivid encounter with regional history that directly connects to an experience of the reed-filled landscape.

Hiking and Cycling in Langendamm

The “At the Saaler Bodden” hiking route leads through extensive meadows and repeatedly offers unobstructed views across the Bodden toward Fischland. It runs without inclines along paved slab, forest, and meadow paths. Those who appreciate open sightlines and changing trail surfaces can experience the character of the landscape from several perspectives on this tour. The recurring views give the route a clear connection to the water and to Fischland on the opposite side.

Langendamm is also part of a described cycling route. On the “Relaxed Tour from Ribnitz-Damgarten to Langendamm,” cyclists can ride from Langendamm to Saal and continue along the southern Bodden coast. The route can therefore serve as a starting point for a section connecting the area with Saal and the southern coastal stretch of the Bodden. Depending on your personal interests, you can get to know Langendamm through its bathing waters, the historic Moischenstein, the scenic hiking route, or continuing your journey by bicycle.
