Ajstrup Strand: Sandy Beach, Bathing Piers and Natural Landscape

Ajstrup Strand has a fine sandy beach where visitors can swim and sunbathe. At the same time, Ajstrup Strand is situated in a scenic natural landscape.

Beach, bathing piers and year-round swimming

At the northern end of Ajstrup Strand, there is a bathing pier facility operated by Aarhus Municipality. In the southern part, there is a bathing pier facility operated by the homeowners’ association. The two facilities are therefore located at opposite ends of the beach. The two bathing pier facilities clearly distribute access to bathing between the northern and southern sections of the beach. Swimming takes place at Ajstrup Strand all year round, including by winter swimmers. Even outside the traditional summer season, swimming continues at Ajstrup Strand. The fine sandy beach remains the central place for swimming and sunbathing.

Practical orientation by the shore

There are several toilets at Ajstrup Strand, including an accessible toilet. Parking is available at both ends of Ajstrup Strand, in the south and in the north. There are also fire pits that can be used free of charge for outings, a short stay or an overnight stay. This makes it possible to include both short stays and longer beach days, as well as an overnight stay at the fire pits, in your plans. The location of the parking areas at both ends of the beach provides two different starting points for a stay by the shore. The two ends of the beach thus form different orientation points for a stay by the shore.

Mariendal and Norsminde as destinations for outings

The nearby surroundings also expand the range of possible interests around Ajstrup Strand. The national cycle route N5 runs past nearby Mariendal Strand; at the same time, the beach is suitable for swimming. In Norsminde, there are traces of inhabitants dating back to around 6600 BC. At nearby Norsminde Havn og Fjord, there is an opportunity to go fishing. From Norsminde Havn og Fjord, you can walk in the direction of Ajstrup Strand. The bus connection to Moesgård Strand adds another destination for an outing to this coastal area. First Camp Ajstrup Strand is also located directly on a bathing beach on Denmark’s east coast in Jutland. The indoor pool at First Camp Ajstrup Strand can also be used by non-resident guests. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between Ajstrup Beach, an outing to Moesgård Strand and use of the indoor pool.
