Skæring combines a bathing beach, beach park and the landscape of Skæring Heath. Beach Park and Bathing Beaches

The coastal area at Skæring Beach Park is suitable for swimming and other outdoor activities. From the beach park, there is a view across Aarhus Bay towards Studstrup Power Station. The area near Grønspættevej in Skæring borders a holiday-home area. It includes a fine sandy beach with a lifeguard station and an adjoining grassy area. This means that the beach areas differ not only in their location, but also in the described combination of sandy beach, lifeguard station and open grassland. The grassy area extends the beach section with an open space beside the fine sandy beach.

Skæring Heath: Forest, Heath and Remembrance

Skæring Heath is a former shooting range in a holiday-home area close to the sea. The area consists of forest planted with pine and birch trees as well as smaller heath areas. Its proximity to the sea connects the heath with the coastal area, while the trees and heath areas create a distinct landscape character. There is also an equipment station at Skæring Heath; the equipment must be booked before use. Anyone including this option must take the booking into account before the planned use. The area's former use as a shooting range gives the heath a historical character alongside its forest and heath areas.

Skæring Heath has a memorial grove commemorating five resistance fighters who were executed there during the occupation. A hiking route near Skødstrup, marked with a hiking symbol, leads to the memorial grove at Skæring Heath. The route is 4.7 kilometres long. Its length can be considered a separate hiking section when planning the day. At the same time, the memorial grove gives the route a historical connection that extends beyond the forest and heath landscape.

Historical Trace in Skæring

In the Middle Ages, Skæring Munkegård belonged to the landholdings of Øm Abbey. Thus, medieval history, remembrance of the occupation and the present-day landscape of beach and heath stand side by side in Skæring as distinct travel themes.
