Båtskärsnäs combines the compact structure of an archipelago village with maritime points of interest and an unusually well-documented history of the timber industry. Båtskärsnäs Church is a wooden building with a rectangular floor plan and a steep gabled roof. The church was inaugurated in 1974; the free-standing bell tower followed in 1976. The Folkets Hus contains several decoratively painted stage sets that are more than 100 years old. They complement the visible traces of the former working and everyday life with a cultural interior space. In contrast, only the foundations of the original sawmill remain in the old sawmill area. The Båtskärsnäs sawmill era lasted from the 1870s until 14 June 1968. The old sawmill area is also listed as a site in the cultural heritage programme of Norrbotten County.

Waterfront Buildings and Harbour Views

Several buildings along the waterfront of the old settlement are connected with the timber industry and its associated trades. Particularly prominent is the representative wooden building of Boströms skeppshandel, which has been preserved together with its warehouse and ancillary buildings. A tour through the local history therefore reveals not only individual structures but also the connection between the waterfront, commerce and industry.

The maritime present is visible at several harbour points. Båtskärsnäs småbåtshamn has a slipway, electricity and fresh water. The harbour at Skräddarsviken offers approximately 70 berths. This figure should be understood as an approximate size. In the regional context of the Kalix archipelago, Båtskärsnäs is also listed as one of the starting points for commercial fishing. Harbour infrastructure, historical maritime connections and the region's fishing history thus come together without reducing the area to just one maritime function.
