Bisnap: Beach, Hiking Trails and Nature

Beach between Hou and Hals

Bisnap Beach has white sand and a gently sloping shoreline. It is child-friendly and suitable for kitesurfing. Those travelling with children can make the beach experience the focus of their stay; active travellers will find kitesurfing an option for their time by the water. These two features offer different ways to shape your time at the beach.

Hals-Mose routes for walkers

The Hals-Mose routes comprise three local hiking trails measuring 5 km, 10 km and 12.5 km. Their routes run along paths as well as field, forest and paved roads, and they are primarily suitable for walkers. The three distances provide a clear basis if you want to choose your planned routes by length. Along the Hals-Mose routes, the distance is complemented by changes between paths as well as field, forest and paved roads; the route is therefore not limited to a single type of path. The eastern part of the Hals-Mose routes runs along the holiday home areas of Koldkær and Bisnap. From the eastern sections, there are several opportunities to take a detour to the Kattegat through the holiday home areas, for example via the North Sea Trail.

Forest, dunes and coast

In the nearby area between Hou and Hals lie Koldkær Skov and Trekantskoven. In nearby Koldkær Skov, the forest reaches all the way to the Kattegat. Today, the area includes various landscape types, including pure coniferous forest, oak scrub, dunes and beach. Trekantskoven has a marked bridleway. The landscape therefore ranges from forest and oak scrub to dunes and the coast, while the bridleway adds another specific feature to Trekantskoven.

Hals Skanse from the Renaissance

Nearby Hals is home to Hals Skanse, a unique old fortification from the Renaissance period, dating from 1536 to 1660. At the same time, Hals Skanse is considered Denmark’s best-preserved individual redoubt. If you would like to give your coastal trip a historical focus, this fortification is one of the documented points of interest in the area around Bisnap.
