Marked Paths for Walking and Cycling

The Ajstrup Route is a combined nature cycling and walking route from Hadsund to Ajstrup Bay. It includes a marked, 5 km walking trail through Ajstrup Krat. The marked 5 km route starts at the car park on Ajstrupvej. From this starting point, the marked walking trail leads through Ajstrup Krat. At 5 km, this walking section remains clearly limited for day planning. Ajstrup Krat forms the woodland section of the marked path.

Different Types of Paths Along the Bay

The paths also differ away from this marked route. The short circular tour along Ajstrup Bay runs as a narrow, hilly footpath through sections with heather and bilberries. The alternative route of the North Sea Trail passes the area near Ajstrup, which is characterised by nature and woodland. The narrow, hilly footpath through heather and bilberries is a different type of path from the marked 5 km walking trail through Ajstrup Krat. For day planning, the hilly footpath can be considered differently from the marked 5 km walking trail through Ajstrup Krat.

Waterfowl in the Shallow-Water Area

In the large shallow-water area of Ajstrup Bay, wintering whooper swans, shelducks, mallards, Eurasian wigeons, tufted ducks and coots are particularly often observed. The large shallow-water area of Ajstrup Bay is the specific natural setting for this winter birdwatching. In winter, the wintering whooper swans form part of the birdlife observed at Ajstrup Bay.

Bronze Age Burial Mounds North of Ajstrup

North of Ajstrup lies a group of four impressive Bronze Age burial mounds, including Hanehøj. The “Rundhøj, Ajstrup – #1” retains significant parts of its burial mound. A footpath runs across the eastern part of the “Rundhøj, Ajstrup – #1”.
