If walking trails, nature and local history are priorities when choosing where to travel, Luzino offers several distinct points of interest. The Ścieżka Zdrowia has two routes of different lengths, while the arboretum, town park and local collections each offer something different. This gives you the chance to consider which topics interest you most during your stay.
Routes and Views on the Ścieżka Zdrowia
The entrance to the Ścieżka Zdrowia is on ul. Wilczka, with a public car park next to it. Two routes are available for walking and running: a 1.9 km pine route and a 3.4 km beech route. Several pieces of general exercise equipment complement the routes. Based on their stated lengths, you can decide which of the two routes better suits your planned outing.
There is also a viewing point on the Ścieżka Zdrowia, 2 km from the entrance. From there, the view extends over Charwatynia as far as Strzebielino. The viewing point is another specific landmark for anyone who wants to include views of the surrounding area in their outing, as well as the trail itself.
Arboretum and Town Park
The arboretum in Luzino features more than 140 species and varieties of rare trees and shrubs; admission is free. The grounds include paths and lawns, as well as benches, a shelter and a prepared fire pit. Those interested in woody plants can make the collection the focus of their visit. With its different areas and existing facilities, the arboretum offers more than a single point of interest.
Another green space is the im. prof. Gerarda Labudy Park in central Luzino. It has a pond, a fountain, walking paths and a playground. The park brings together several different features: you can stroll through it, spend time by the pond and fountain, or make the playground a destination in its own right. Together with the arboretum, it offers a choice between a site with rare trees and shrubs and a park with additional facilities.
History and Local Collections
Luzino’s historic sites offer different ways to explore the town’s history. The early medieval hillfort site, dating from the 9th century, is on ul. Długa, beyond the footbridge over the Bolszewka River. The Church of św. Wawrzyńca dates from 1740. Its oldest feature is a medieval stone holy water stoup from the previous wooden church; the furnishings also include Baroque elements and an entrance gate from that period.
The Izba Regionalna in Luzino displays cultural artefacts related to the region’s history, archaeology, ethnography and art. Its collections include material and spiritual culture, forestry and natural history, as well as a collection of agricultural machinery displayed outdoors. The Izba Regionalna is open every Wednesday from 10:00 to 18:00. This makes it possible to plan your visit for a specific time and distinguish it thematically from the town’s historic sites.
The Gminna Biblioteka Publiczna im. Leona Roppla is located in a former Evangelical church that was in use from 1895 to 1945. In Luzino, you can therefore encounter a building that was once used as a church, as well as the Church of św. Wawrzyńca and the hillfort site.
