Riepsdorf lies between the A1 motorway and the Baltic Sea in a rural landscape on the southern edge of the former Gruber Lake. The lake was drained in 1936; the municipality is predominantly agricultural.
Landscape
The wider regional surroundings of Riepsdorf include Sehlendorfer Strand, a dog beach, a seawater wave pool, the Vogelpark Cultural-Historical Monument, Riemannstein and allotment gardens. The surrounding area also contains Eiskellerberg.
Culture
The Cismar Monastery and Cismar Abbey Church are located near Riepsdorf. The medieval abbey church is characterised by its North German Brick Gothic architecture from Lübeck and a preserved early winged altarpiece. Paths around the monastery lead towards the Baltic Sea.
Getting there
Riepsdorf can be reached by car from the A1 motorway via the Lensahn exit. From there, state road 58 leads towards Grömitz; afterwards, continue via state road 231 towards Grube.
