Bliesdorf between Natural Beach and Chapel

At Bliesdorf’s 5-kilometre-long natural beach, views of the Baltic Sea meet the coastal cliffs. The cliffs protect the beach from the wind; this section of coast is free of tourist tax. The beach has fine sand and slopes gently and sandy into the Baltic Sea, without stones or pebbles. Summer family time at the beach is possible there. It is also ideal for quiet reading and beach walks with views of the Baltic Sea.

Fine-sand natural beach on the Baltic Sea

For your timing, the statutes of the municipality of Schashagen apply annually from 15 May to 15 September to the affected beach sections on the seashore in the Bliesdorf-Strand area, as well as to the beach access points there in the area of the dunes and beach ridges. For beach days between these dates, this seasonal framework forms part of the local planning.

Bliesdorf Chapel and history

Bliesdorf has belonged to the Altenkrempe parish since around 1200. Bliesdorf Chapel is of particular cultural significance: it was built in 1965/66 as part of the chapel construction programme and stands in an open position on a hill. It was designed in 1964 by church architect Otto Andersen. Its structure is of artistic value of particular significance.

At the beach, the fine-sand coast, the shallow transition into the Baltic Sea and the wind-protected location take centre stage. The chapel complements this coastal connection through its period of construction, its architect, its hilltop location and the artistic value of its structure. The coast and chapel therefore have different focal points: here, sand, sea and wind shape the scenery; there, the period of construction, design and structure define it.

Cycle route via Bliesdorf

There is also a clear geographical connection for active days: a cycle route leads from Grömitz via Bliesdorf onwards to Pelzerhaken and Neustadt in Holstein. This sequence of places connects Bliesdorf with several towns and provides a spatial framework for cycle planning. If you would like to include cycling in your Baltic Sea plans, you can regard this sequence of routes as a separate focus alongside time at the beach and the history of the chapel. The route determines the order of the places, but leaves the duration, stages, breaks, daily rhythm and the share of the route covered on each individual day open to your own planning, without prescribing a personalised daily itinerary.

Different Baltic Sea days in Bliesdorf

During a stay in Bliesdorf, you can focus on the beach, local history or physical activity, depending on your preferred daily rhythm. These perspectives differ spatially: the natural beach is on the coast, the chapel stands in an open position on a hill, and the cycle route passes through several places. This leaves your daily planning open between time by the water, an interest in cultural history and an active route. The beach-related topics remain directly connected to Bliesdorf, while the cycle route extends the view beyond the town.
