Timmendorfer Strand: Hotels and Accommodation

Timmendorfer Strand has a seven-kilometre-long fine sandy beach with shallow, clear Baltic Sea water.
Coast
The Maritim pier extends 250 metres into the Baltic Sea and offers a 427-metre-long circular promenade for walking. Berths for pleasure and passenger boats are available at the pier. Its seven-metre-wide head provides seating and offers unobstructed views of the Baltic Sea.
Water and Sports
Windsurfing, catamaran sailing and stand-up paddling are offered in Timmendorfer Strand and Niendorf/Ostsee, with courses for beginners and advanced participants as well as individual lessons.
The beach volleyball championship is a major attraction in Timmendorfer Strand: 32 teams compete over four days for the German championship title.
Culture
The glass drinking spa hall is a listed historic building near the beach. It hosts changing exhibitions, lectures and concerts; additional events take place in the outdoor music shell.
Timmendorfer Strand's art kilometre runs along the gently curving beach promenade and includes a sculpture by Udo Lindenberg.
Nature
The Aalbeek lowlands and the northern part of Lake Hemmelsdorf have been protected areas since 1984 and are designated Natura 2000 sites.
The old spa park contains three ponds with water lilies and waterfowl. Delicate, gently curving footbridges connect the ponds; lawns invite visitors to stroll.
Town Centre and Arrival
Timmendorfer Platz serves as a central public meeting place and open-air lounge in the town centre.
Timmendorfer Strand railway station is a few minutes from the town centre and can be reached on foot or by taxi. Direct Intercity connections run to Timmendorfer Strand from Hamburg and the Rhine-Ruhr region; regional trains run hourly from Hamburg via Lübeck.
