Alt Duvenstedt: Hotels and Accommodation
Alt Duvenstedt is located on the edge of the Hüttener Berge Nature Park; at the same time, the municipality is one of two municipalities in Central Holstein that lie within the park. The glacial terminal moraine landscape is characterised by hedgerows, avenues, lakes, forests and moors. The municipality includes the Duvenstedt Moor, a raised bog and remarkable biotope for which prospects of regeneration exist.
Routes
Five regional circular cycling and hiking routes are signposted in Alt Duvenstedt. Several routes connect the village to the wider cycling and hiking network; along these routes there are several rest areas with shelters. Lake Bistensee lies along the routes, but there is no public bathing area there because the surrounding land is privately owned.
A path approximately 300 metres long offers views over the lowland areas of the Otterbek and the Stente. The Alt Duvenstedt routes are included in the route planners of the NOK Tourist Information Office. A combined circular cycling and hiking route also includes the Kolonistenhof.
Culture and History
Stentener Mill was built between 1697 and 1699, is considered a local landmark and has well-preserved sails. The name “Duvenstede” first appeared in written records in 1328.
The Alt Duvenstedt Village Museum’s exhibits include a reconstruction of an old baking oven and a restored half-timbered wall dating from 1780. Alt Duvenstedt also has an outdoor swimming pool.
Geographical Location
Alt Duvenstedt is considered to be centrally located in Schleswig-Holstein. The Kiel Canal is considered a nearby excursion destination from Alt Duvenstedt.
