You can reach Gut Knoop via the towpath along the Kiel Canal from the Holtenau passenger ferry landing. The route follows the historic towpath along which sailing ships were pulled through the canal.

Gut Knoop in Altenholz is a Neoclassical manor house dating from the late 18th century, surrounded by the remains of an English landscape park. Its history is linked to a literary circle from the early 19th century to which Herder and Klopstock belonged.

The accessible parts of Knoop estate park preserve old trees, including a 250-year-old linden tree and a tree-lined avenue by the pond. The park is part of the historic landscape of an agricultural estate.
