Brekendorf: Hotels and Accommodations

Brekendorf is part of the Hüttener Berge Nature Park. The landscape ranges from 10 to 106 meters above sea level and was largely shaped by the last Ice Age.

Nature

In eastern Brekendorf, 400 hectares of wooded hills lie within a landscape conservation area, while the western area comprises 120 hectares of moorland. Brekendorf Forest is located in the terminal moraines of the Hüttener Berge.

Heidberg is protected as a natural monument and features rare vegetation, including juniper. In clear weather, the view extends across fields, lakes, and forests. The remains of a motte-and-bailey castle are also still clearly visible in the landscape near Brekendorf. Brekendorf was the penultimate stop on the former narrow-gauge railway between Eckernförde and Owschlag.

Rammsee is a glacial kettle lake formed by blocks of ice left behind as the ice retreated. Surrounded by woodland and featuring water lilies and reeds, it lies in the local landscape. To protect the sensitive flora and fauna along the shore, a footbridge with a small platform was built there.

Paths and Routes

A local walking route begins at Rammsee, passes through Brekendorf Forest, and reaches Heidberg. Brekendorf Forest also has a signposted 15-kilometer mountain biking route. The Hütti Trail offers optional marked loops and shortcuts that rejoin the main route.

The Hüttener Berge Nature Park has 20 signposted circular hiking trails and six signposted circular cycling routes. In the wider Rendsburg-Eckernförde region, five long-distance cycling routes, five e-bike tours, and twelve themed tours complement the range of routes.

Regional Products

The Schröder organic farm offers regional vegetables as well as Bioland Angus beef and pork, including meat from the Bunte Bentheimer pig. The farm sells directly from the farm; interested visitors are welcome.
