Gammelby: Hotels and Accommodation
Cycling and Hiking Trails through Gammelby
A signposted cycle route between Eckernförde and the Schlei runs through Gammelby over distances of 24 to 58 kilometres. The 33-kilometre Noor TOUR includes the nature trail at Windebyer Noor and passes directly through the village.
Trails lead through fields, meadows and woodland, including sections along the Au. They are used for observing the local flora and fauna as well as for walking and jogging. There is also a challenging 22.1-kilometre circular hiking trail through Kosel, Gammelby and Kochendorf. Between the Große Breite and Windebyer Noor, it runs mostly along paved paths.
Village Centre and Regional Setting
The village centre is home to a family-run country inn. It serves food, has a bowling alley and offers overnight accommodation, making it a place for cyclists and walkers to stop for refreshments and a break.
Gammelby is connected to the B 76. Kiel, Schleswig and Flensburg can each be reached by road in under an hour for shopping and cultural trips. Eckernförde’s Baltic Sea coast and the Schlei region are just a short drive away.
