Lake Wittensee is located in the Hüttener Berge Nature Park. The 1,034-hectare glacial terminal moraine lake serves as a local recreation and leisure area.

The Groß Wittensee Moor nature reserve is located approximately 1 km northwest of Groß Wittensee and north of Lake Wittensee. Visitors should remain on the designated path, as entering the wetland is dangerous.

Water Activities and Cycling

Visitors can swim and enjoy non-motorized water sports on Lake Wittensee. These include surfing, sailing, stand-up paddling, and other paddle sports.

There are numerous routes around Lake Wittensee with varying levels of difficulty; information about bicycle rental is provided locally.
