Holzbunge: Hotels and accommodations

From Holzbunge, the circular hiking trail around Lake Bistensee leads through a moderately difficult loop of approximately 12 kilometers, takes around three hours, and runs along minor roads and forest paths. Along the way, there are viewpoints offering scenic vistas in the landscape between the Duvenstedt Hills and the Hütten Hills.

Circular trails

A second official circular tour starting in Holzbunge is approximately 10.5 kilometers long, takes about two hours, and is considered easy. It runs along paths lined with hedgerows, as well as through copses and forest, through Holzbunge and around the village.

Culture and history

The Holzbunge–Neu Duvenstedt route mentions a thatched smokehouse in Holzbunge, a traditional Low German half-timbered hall house that is considered one of the most originally preserved smokehouses in Schleswig-Holstein.

The wider regional surroundings of Holzbunge include the Rune Stone, Gottorf Castle, the State Museum, Haithabu, the wildlife park, and the Edelsturm ruins.

Nature

The Wälder der Hüttener Berge FFH area comprises three smaller deciduous forest areas between Lake Bistensee and Holzbunge. These are located within a larger landscape featuring historically old beech forests and wet alder-ash forests.

The Aschberg lies in the vicinity of Holzbunge. The wider regional surroundings also include Noer Beach and Lindholm.
