Klein Wittensee: Hotels and Accommodation

Directly on the shore of Lake Wittensee, Klein Wittensee combines lakeside areas, paths and regional excursion destinations. In the Sande area, there is a barbecue area with toilets; the bathing area on the western shore of Lake Wittensee is a launch point for surfing when the wind comes from the west.

At Lake Wittensee

Lake Wittensee is up to 20 metres deep and was formed around 20,000 years ago by a glacier tongue. Outdoor fitness equipment has been installed at Lake Wittensee in the areas of Klein Wittensee, Groß Wittensee and Bünsdorf.

Nature and Trails

Klein Wittensee is one of the 21 municipalities in Hüttener Berge Nature Park. There, 20 circular hiking trails and six cycling routes are signposted. In Brekendorf Forest, there is also a marked 15-kilometre mountain biking route.

The Rendsburg-Eckernförde district also offers five signposted cycling routes. They pass through natural areas, cultural monuments, historic sites and other attractions, and run mainly along roads with little traffic. The skating route also passes through Klein Wittensee along footpaths and cycle paths beside the B 203.

Regional Cuisine

The Glücksstück farm shop and bistro in Klein Wittensee sells meat from pigs kept outdoors on straw, as well as other regionally produced food. At Glücksstück Farm, there is a vending machine next to the bistro offering chilled meat for barbecuing and sausages.

Culture

In Groß Wittensee, the 1874 Dutch-style windmill regularly offers guided tours for visitors.
